WHAT: A performance for a group of MMC instructors
WHERE: McNeil Music Center
WHEN: March 19 – 23 during your regular lesson time
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will perform song in front of several MMC instructors during your regular lesson time. The instructors will make comments about your performance on jury sheets. Your instructors will share those comments at a future lesson.
A jury allows a student to receive constructive feedback on their performance before the Spring Recital Festival in May!
SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE?
All MMC students are encouraged to participate in the jury process. Talk with your instructor about any concerns you have about performing for juries.
Jury Week is almost here! Here are some suggestions to help make your jury less stressful!
The adage, “Practice makes perfect” is true! Work on your jury piece a little bit every day. Not only will it help you memorize your piece, you will gain the confidence to perform it well. Try practicing in front of friends or family members to help get some performance jitters out of your system!
Be sure to get lots of good sleep during jury week. Your body needs time to relax and rest. A good night’s sleep will help you perform at your best!
Feed your body healthy foods and try to limit sugars and caffeine on your jury day.
RELAX AND STAY POSITIVE
Visit our Jury Prep and Pep Talk table in the waiting room for fun coloring sheets and inspirational quotes keep with you. Stop by the Positivitree to leave encouraging notes for other students.
Remember that our instructors want to see you improve and succeed. All you need to do is breathe and show them all your hard work.
